make subtle little hints, tell him no one has asked you yet and you really like this guy who is your friend but he doesnt know you like him lol maybe he will get the hint and if that doesn't work just straight out ask him i dont get this rule about guys asking girls in highschool lol, if you want something go for it the worst he could say is no or I have already asked someone... dont be afraid to put yourself out there to get what you want, guys like confidence in a girl...

Yea, you could always ask him. Lots of guys are too shy to ask girls. Or you can just tell him you like him and hope he'll ask you. But still, you can always ask him. It's the end of the school year anyways.
