Veggies are cheap, and pack more nutrition than any fast food.
Try a salad. Use lettuce, any variety is ok, just wash and disinfect well before eating. Add tomato, avocado slices, cucumber, carrots, cheese, olives and some olive oil and vinegar. You can add water packed tuna for a change, or fajitas, beef or chicken are good choices.

I love to eat tostadas, you boil chicken and shred it into strips, then take refried beans and spread it on a tostada. A tostada is a corn tortilla that is flat, similar to a taco shell, or make them yourself by baking tortillas until hard. On top of the beans put the chicken, some shredded lettuce, tomato and avocado slices, thin onion rings (if you like them raw) and top with shredded cheese, cream and a salsa made with fresh tomato, onion, garlic and salt, that you can prepare in a blender, just add a little water. It's cheap.

I can usually make spaghetti for $2. $1 for a pound of noodles, and sometimes you can get a jar of sauce for $1 (that's when I stock up).
When I first moved out, I lived on ramen and bagels for a long time. That worked out to about 25 cents per meal.
Drink water, it's super-cheap.

You can buy Ramen noodles in little bags for about 30 cents a piece. Frozen burritos can be found for about 60 cents. If you really want to make something, spaghetti and macaroni have the best values.
