Well if you were to send a native file there is always a possibility for file corruption. So I would personally recommend generating a PDF document since they are already compressed and can handle inter or intra net travel. If you also generate a PDF of the document then you can view it with Acrobat Viewer and confirm that it looks like you want it to before you submit it into the email program.

Don't paste. Attach it. Using Yahoo mail, go to compose and type your greeting and any info telling the recipient about the attachment ( your resume ), then click on the Attach button ( the one with the paperclip icon ). A new window opens, click on browse, locate and click on your resume document, click open, click attach, then click OK. Then send as usual. The recipient will receive an exact copy of your word document.

Try saving it in text format first. The editing codes from Word do not carry over to the e-mail page, so everything comes out looking kind of jumbled. Text format will usually produce a more favorable result.

Your best bet is to send it as an attachment...

Using .pdf file format is preferable at most places.

Usually when you go to print, there is an option to save as .pdf using adobe acrobat. This is only for the purpose of ANYONE being able to open your resume using the free software available at adobe acrobat's website.
