mikey, you have just not acquired a taste for whiskey since you say you like vodka the best. You still like nicely flavored drinks that are not harsh in anyway and taste probably sweeter than normal mixed drinks. That's okay, everyone starts usually drinking sweeter drinks. Look at wine, most people start with White Zinfandel, or try wine coolers and then graduate to whites the Rieslings etc, chardonnays and then to the reds, and finally to some good strong robust Cabernet's. It is just a gradual adjustment and the same holds true for beer and whiskeys.
As you grow older and experiment more you will find out the various flavors of whiskeys, American, Irish and Scotch, blends and straights, some aged a little some aged a long time. That is the fun of enjoying alcohol, but do not do it in excess. Whiskey is designed to be enjoyed not gulped.

I made the mistake of freezing pure fruit juice then thawing it then power drinking it. My stomach started that gurgling thing, painful gurgling. I ran for the mens room. Too late---I ripped a fart that lasted long enough for me to laugh in mid fart. Still farting--all thunder--no lightning--this is cool--I couldn't stop. Made it to the throne--no accidents so far--still laughing--sat down. silence- good, I'm done. Get up, started again, hugely loud fart, I started laughing, couldn't stop farting, drove people out of the room. COOL.

I find the malts from the western isles are an acquired taste - it's that strong peaty tang that takes some getting used to.
