The probability of an average protein molecule comprising five hundred amino acids being arranged in the correct proportion and sequence in addition to the probability of all of the amino acids it contains being only left-handed and being combined only with peptide bonds is "1" divided by 10950. We can write this number, which is formed by putting 950 zeros after 1, as follows:

right on, I'm glad someone else sees some of the problems with evolutions. Everyone else, keep in mind that this protein is just one of millions that is vital to life as we know it. And another thing how do we know that the world is 4 billion years old? Carbon dating? The half life of carbon 14 is 5,730 years. So how many half lives is that. Simply put by 4 billion years there no carbon 14 left to measure, it would have all deteriorated. There is no way that all the life on earth could have resulted by evolution

Okay to everyone above, to the person who said that scientists have created living cells from nonliving molecules, slap yourself because that is an absolute falsehood. Next when you say that scientist created amino acids that is true but lets look closer. There were only about 5 different amino acids that were created not all the ones that are necessary for life. Next how were all the other cell parts (lipids, nucleic acids, carbs) formed. Did they just appear? Scientists cannot make lipids from just the molecules needed to synthesize them. I have a very hard time believing that all these parts were formed, in the same place (it is very hard to keep things together underwater let alone in an ocean) and somehow all came together and then replicated. No that does not happen.

Next how did new material get added in to the gene pool? Mutation? Well everything that we know from science (Medicine, genetics) tells us that mutation is bad. Name one good mutation. Not sickle cell anemia. First of all sickle cell is only beneficial when it is in the heterozygote and so it helps protect against malaria, it also cause way more harmful symptoms than beneficial ones. Look at what happens with people that have cystic fibrosis. There are a few (less than 10) nucleic acid changes and it is usually fatal. Mutation does not, repeat, DOES NOT, provide helpful change. Another thing is how did this first cell survive? Even the simplest cell carry out complex reactions, and processes that "Scientists" cannot explain after years of study. In order for this "first cell" to be viable all these pathways would have to present before the cell could live. And what about all the proteins need for DNA/RNA replication? There are about 150 different proteins that carry out karyokinesis alone and then comes the problem of separating the DNA. Come on do you still think that all this could have happened by chance?

Next time, do not come after creationist because you do not want to believe that there is a God. With creation everything fits. The more you know about biology the more you see the holes in evolution.

I sometimes think you are an atheist showing the ridiculous arguments in creationist theory, and post this debunked nonsense to discredit creationism.

Follow the link...

Here are a few key lines:

"Firstly, the formation of biological polymers from monomers is a function of the laws of chemistry and biochemistry, and these are decidedly not random."

"Secondly, the entire premise is incorrect to start off with, because in modern abiogenesis theories the first "living things" would be much simpler, not even a protobacteria, or a preprotobacteria (what Oparin called a protobiont [8] and Woese calls a progenote [4]), but one or more simple molecules probably not more than 30-40 subunits long. These simple molecules then slowly evolved into more cooperative self-replicating systems, then finally into simple organisms [2, 5, 10, 15, 28]. "

"No matter whether the first self-replicators were single molecules, or complexes of small molecules, this model is nothing like Hoyle's "tornado in a junkyard making a 747"."

"Some functionally equivalent molecules can have between 30 - 50% of their amino acids different. In fact it is possible to substitute structurally non-identical bacterial proteins for yeast proteins, and worm proteins for human proteins, and the organisms live quite happily.

The "life sequence" is a myth."

I won't even begin talking about the number of galaxies and stars there are, nor how big a planet is compared to a molecule, nor how many 'chances' molecules have in an ocean to meet, collide and form other molecules. Nor the unproveable suggestion that perhaps ours is not the sole universe that has ever been, maybe ours is a freak to produce life or the conditions to allow it, who knows, but it did, and it did so via impersonal mechanisms.

First of all your question is invalid. No one said that a protein just poof out of nothing happened. Everything happens threw stages. Nothing just appears like some religious people would have you believe. From the universal building blocks planets, stars, comets, etc are created. This is true. We can see that happening right now in other parts of the galaxy using this loving thing called the Hubbell telescope. Then once this happens the rest of life can happen. It’s the evolution of life threw stages, not all at once.

The building blocks of life have been created in labs to prove this hypothesis. They used only elements that were present, created an environment just like what earth would have been in it’s infancy, and were actually able to create amino acids. Once again, proof.

In our galaxy alone there are billions of stars, and there are billions of galaxies that contain billions of stars. Each one of these stars could have 1 to hundreds of planetary bodies in orbit around them. Just by these odds alone it is very probable that life would have formed on at least one of these planetary bodies.

It is completely possible that in this solar system that the exact right coincidence happen to create life. Actually, coincidence would not really be the correct word for it. Everything in the universe works off the laws of physics, and within these laws everything happens. Therefore, because there is actually order to the chaos that we see, it is not a coincidence, just an effect from a cause.

It always amazes me that no matter how much proof science gives that these myths of religion are false, people still won’t budge. Frederick Neitchze was right, “Religion is the opiate of the masses.”

Go back to school. Your numbers are utter lies. Just like everything else argued by creationists.
Give it up sonny, you know that Evolution is science, and you know that it does NOT concern itself with the beginnign of life. Only how that life progressed.
You are trying to argue Abiogenesis, not Evolution. But you're to ill educated to know the difference.
Please get some very basic education. I suggest a grade 9 biology class. I'm sure the teacher would be very happy to let you in on a few classes.

Oh and no1home2day, you are a liar too. No such person ever worked on the genome project. He is, like everything else in the creationists arsenal, a fabrication.

Oh and panacea, stop lying! Science has indeed proven without a shadow of a doubt that with the very basics present at the beginnign of the universe, life, or the building blocks can and do spontaneously appear. Sucks when you lie and someone finds you out huh?

Yes. Absolutely. In fact, it's been proven. Scientists actually recreated the atmospheric conditions that they believe the earth was under aproximately when life was first brought into being, and, under those conditions, single cell organisms formed. Formed out of nothing living, just like they did billions of years ago. And over billions of years, random mutations (which are simple mistakes in copying DNA) have resulted in the vast number of different species, seemingly by chance. Now, this neither proves nor disproves the exsistence of God. It's possible he had something to do with it. Afterall, if he exsists, he did write the laws of physics that causes this to happen. But, to answer you question, yes, Life Can Result From Coincidences As Evolution Argues. It's been proven.

1. I take issue with the 10^950 probability you've stated. The structure of atoms and molecules raises those odds significantly.

2. 4 billion years is in fact quite a long time. Even extremely unlikely coincidences will happen thousands of times in that amount of time - and it really only needs to happen once to get it right.

So yes, life CAN result from 'coincidences' as you call them - it's really, really hard for people to understand how long 4 billion years really is.

This issue was settled long ago in scientific thought. There is no such thing as spontaneous genesis. Life never comes from non-life. There is not a single scientist of evolution that would dispute the law of biogenesis (that life only comes from life and never from non-life). However, many of them won't bat an eye at the theory that live evolved spontaneously from the primordial ooze. This is, of course, a direct violation of all that we know about biology but curiously, the issue seems not to draw their attention. That's because they are lying about evolution. They know full well it is junk science. What they are concerned about is stripping others of their faith in God. They manipulate science in an attempt to challenge the rationality of religion. In other words, the point here is shoring up the claim that God does not exist and religion is irrational....by hook or by crook. Anything inconvenient that shows they are wrong is buried or twisted or simply shouted down. That's morally evil.

The truth is this. If life ever did evolve from non-life, it took the hand of a creator to do it. Because not biological process. No scientific process EVER results in life from non-life. In a sense, this contradiction between the law of biogenesis and the theory of the genesis of life....supports creationism, not evolution, lol.

I don't believe in evolution, everything has a creator. You can't toss an egg, some flour, sugar, and vanilla into the air and get cookie dough. It just doesn't happen. God is the creator and I suggest you read the book Creation printed by the Watchtower Bible and tract society, it lists bible scriptures and discusses evolution and such. Or go to watchtower.org. Hope it helps. :)

Ask Dr. Flue of Harvard. He was an avid atheist, but while working on the Genome project, came to the conclusion that the DNA is too complex to be an accident.

He is no longer an atheist. He now believes in intelligent creation.

It is all just too complex to have happened by chance.
We finally got to the point where the primate people are bound and determined to believe all of this. It is better to just let them go instead of arguing, they will eventually find out on their own. The God people will have a great time here with their God in charge and all will be well for them..
I think eventually the primate people will get jealous of the God people and want to do away with them. Sort of "no good deed shall go unpunished" sort of thing.. Evolution just invokes to many billions of years to ever be true.
