Assuming the fish could both survive in whatever water they were in..... Which i think is your plan...
One on one. Barracuda, one bite, dead lil river fish.
Small group.10-30 of each. Barracuda, even though piranha are vicious Little critters, and can strip an animal in a few minuets, they generally are not being eaten during the fight. Barracuda are mean, and huge, and have pretty decent Armour in the form of scales. So, still Barracuda.
Large school of each. This is where the piranha get their advantage. One is not dangerous, 10 are not particularly dangerous, 300 are very dangerous. Still, the nip a little here, nip a little there versus the one bite yer dead of the barracuda.......
I'm thinking even numbers, the barracuda wins all the time. In a weight verses weight fight, the piranha win, maybe. Still put my money on the barracuda. They are more some of the most agressive fish on the planet. Have had one jump in the boat i was fishing in. I think they may be a bit psychotic. lol

The barracuda fish.
In open water it was an unmatchable advantage of zig-sagging through the schools of piranha. Their speed is also a major benefactor. The piranha can't keep up.
In close quarters, piranha schools have the advantage because the barracuda cant shoot through the school, wearing them down over time.
Even numbers? Barracuda wins every time.

Notice how Barracuda have the scales as it's armour.. What type of fish that eats other fish that relies on the use of scales shouldn't be eaten by piranha is the question.. I have no doubt that a starved or pissed off piranha could seriously mangle any barracuda it wanted.. You know why?? because it can..

depends on the environment the fight takes place in. Fresh water the piranhas win because the barracuda wont be able to take oxygen form the fresh water. Salt water the barracuda wins because the piranhas would suffocate for the same reasons. On land... both loose cause their freaking fish.

One is a salt water fish / the other fresh water, so I say it depends on the type of water you drop them in for the fight.
