They are actually the same. Morrisons now own Safeways. And Morrisons believe that problems in taking over Safeways have been the main cause of the £365M loss reported last year.

Urrgghhh... neither, if I could possibly avoid it. Waitrose would be first choice, followed by Tesco / Sainsbury's. The only reason I go into Morrisons is to pick up a particular wine that they sell. I find that in both Safeway and Morrisons (which are much the same thing these days, anyway) that the fresh produce is limited in range, and that the food is geared towards "family" bulk buying, with the emphasis on processed, fast foods, which I can make for myself more cheaply, with less salt and fat, etc.

Safeway was far better than Morrison's but now that Morrison's have taken over Safeway and shut them down the choice and quality is far poorer. I also don't like the way that Morrison's wraps almost all its fruit and veg in shrink wrapped plastic - talk excessive packaging and environmental pollution!!!!

Safeway is now Morrisons. They were bought over at a cost of £39 million (no buy one, get one free offer on that day!). Personally I find Morrisons quite cheap-ish and tacky. Bring back Safeways, all is forgiven

;-)

What sort of question is this? Morrisons bought Safeway some years ago

Well I was brought up with Safeways and always felt they were a cut above the rest ... good selection and quality. Somehow Morrisons just don't stack up, in fact they are simply boring! So it has to be Safeway ... RIP

Morrisons is cheaper, and I never liked the Safeway logo for some reason.

used to shop at Safeway, stopped when it changedto Morrisons, quality of produce appeared to go down, or at least it was presented to look as if was less good quality. Now I only have Waitrose which is other end of scale.
