I used to have ARES until it became illeagal, and now I'm debating with my parents on whether or not to dowload Limewire. What are the positives and negatives of having it? Chances of getting caught? Is it free? Thanks

Positive: Everything is free, free music, free software, free downloads galore. Its easy to use and you dont have to download and install extra stuff that bearshare and kazaa makes you do.
Negative: You are trusting the fact that these files will be totally secure. You are risking downloading things to your computer that might be harmful and might attach a virus.

Limewire, like other 'free' music download sites, uses P2P or Peer to Peer file transfers. This leaves your computer open to virus's, adware, trojans and all sorts of bad little creepy-crawly things along with the music downloads. Not to mention that it is illegal. Not that you will be caught, however, a possibility. If you are..there are some big fines and penalties for doing this.

the upside is you can get alot of free stuff,almost only limited by your imagination.type it in and they usually got it....whatever it is.
the downside would have to be that things arent always what they seem,and sometimes you open something that was labelled as a awesome new song you wanna hear or that cool new porno all your freinds have been talking about and then BAM!!!! out jumps an angry virus.
also you cant really have firewalls and virus blockers/protectors etc etc becouse they interfere with the program working properly.and often block alot of random things that arent bad at all just becouse they feel like it......
I have an alienware used for all things legal,but my old computer which has limewire kazaa and bit torrents is now known to those who come over as "the virus"...........it has a mind of its own..............

Limewire is free! Move material once downloaded to your personal folders and then delete it out of limewire. Never allow uploading and you shouldn't be caught>

My daughter d/l it..I didn't know..she got a bad file that totally screwed up my comp. Not worth it...music sites aren't that expensive anymore and they are legal. Limewire is a headache

Up until now there are no negtives about using limewire. It works and the non "pro" one is free. Besure you share your files with the world.
