I get so nervous whenI have to go up in front of the class and do something only because I don't like everyone's attention on me. I tremble so much and it's not even funny, and my herarts starts beating fast. I tell myself it's not that serious, that all I gotta do is go up there and [say a few lines] or something, but I still can't help it. And when I don't shake, which is rare, I'll move around alot, or bite my nails, or play with my hair. I'm sort of paranoid tooand I hate it when people stare at me even when they're like lost in thought. But most of all I want the shaking to stop.

get over it. People make such a big deal of nothing. So what if everybody is looking at you? think about this: Five or ten years from now, are you going to give a rat's *** about what happened that particular time you had to go to the front of the class? Probably not.
If it helps, imagine the whole class is naked and they're all shaking and trying to hide themselves from you.
I had to do a lot of performing in front of people starting very early and I did use to get nervous in the beginning, but since I had to play piano in front of everyone, I just had to tell myself that what will be will be and this shall pass too. So what if I make a mistake? big friggin deal...
Do you think any of the people that were in my audience when I made stupid mistakes care now (20 years later)? I haven't seen them in ages and I don't know who they are and I'm sure they don't spend any of their time thinking about that kid who played the wrong note 20 years ago.

It's very normal to get nervous. Even the most famous actors and actresses, singers and other celebs gettin nervous sometimes. This is our natural self preserving habit, and you can make yourself more confident by doin more practice, but still you'll get nervous some time. Just relax, breath normally, and imagine that you're tellin your best friend a story when you're presenting in front of the class.

Your normal. This is all normal when you are starting in public speaking.

One of the things you is to look at each person for about 10 seconds as you are talking then move onto the next person.

Also speak slowly and clearly.

EVERYONE is nervous the first couple times, don't get discouraged it gets MUCH easier.

It sounds like social anxiety disorder, which is a type of anxiety disorder, like a phobia, panic attacks, etc. It's crucial to talk to a counselor to see what this feeling is coming from. A good way to practice talking in front of others is to do it with family. If you have a speech coming up, stand in front of your family at the dinner table and read it to them, or start with a group of 2 or 3 friends. It's important to get used to relaxing as you start speaking...

Try a few milligrams for lorazapam or diazapam...that's what stopped my jitters when I needed to do a presentasion in front of a group.
Interestingly, when I am teaching a class I don't get nervous...I guess it's something to do with not being judged by the audience.

How many speeches have you given? If there is a way for you to practice even in front of your family until you feel comfortable, it may make your next speech easier. Try not to concentrate on how nervous you feel. During a speech, don't look directly at people but look over their heads. Good luck!

I took a public speaking class and I know how you feel. My instructor talked to us about having anxiety when you are speaking in front of people. This happens to a lot of people believe it or not. The one thing my instructor told us to do is to practice talking in front of a mirror or in front of family or friends. The key thing is to get practice at speaking in front of an audience. When you know what you are talking about and have practiced it over and over again, it tends to help. Another thing you can do is take deep breathes before you go up in front of the class. I hope this helps

Stage fright. Fear. Totally normal to have some. Everyone does, even those who deny it.
Only way to get over it is to do it over and over and over again. It gets to be routine, even though some of the fear still remain, kinda like driving a car.
Toastmasters is an organization that adresses this problem and helps thousands.

PS a trick is to imagine the entire audience naked! Try not to laugh at them.

If you can move around (allowed by teacher) then that might help you out...if you can go to different points of the classroom it may help you to stay focused while you look at everyone who is staring at you...also, sometimes keeping like a piece of paper or some paper clips or something in your hands may help cuz you can move them around and sort of get your bearings...hope this helps!
