I work on a medical-surgical floor and have had the last 2 days off. I usually work 12 hour days, and occasionally slip in on a 3-11 shift. This will be the first time I worked an actual nite shift in over a year if I go in.
We get time and one half for over time. If I hold off, I can get double time, but they may call someone else in who will say sure for just regular time.

Yeah! Go in and get the money! My mom is an RN and she works nights on the Medicine unit, which I'm sure isn't as demanding as Med-Surg! But yeah, I would (I'm a nursing student), that time and a half is the bomb!

so the question is whether you should play hard to get... or not...

do you want the money? is the "someone else" guaranteed to say yes?

if you want the money and someone else might take the offer instead, don't gamble and just take the offer.

if the money isn't an issue, then hold off. you either get time off, or double overtime. can't lose this bet.

if you want the money and you feel up to it then do it. if not then don't. this really is your decision, not ours.
