Martin Luther King is was the leader of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960s in the United States. He was a Protestant Preacher and lead the movement that expressed equal rights for all men.
He used the philosophy of passive resistance from Ghandi of India to demonstrate against Alabama and other states about their segregation laws against African Americans. He believed that peace would bring change... and the voice of many through peaceful demonstration could facillitate change.
He was killed by an assassin's bullet in Memphis, TN in 1968. It was tragic because eliminated one of the most powerful voices of the Civil Rights movement during the '60s. He is still remembered for his famous speeches and philosophy that all men were equal.
