how do you edit an .asf file?

there is an asf file that is 27 mb. i only want to save half of it. how do i shorten the clip?

ASF is not a file format, like avi of mpg. It is a method of delivering a file to Windows Media Players. The actual file could be avi, mpg, etc. But by using asf to deliver the file, it limits access to the file and keeps you from being able to edit or (if they want) to copy or distribute the file. So I am not aware of any way to shorten an ASF file.

Yes, you can edit them with SDKs for Windows Media Player, although you may have trouble since you do not have source material:
