I had a box of spangles about five years ago, to give away for halloween, but no bugga called.
I also bought a big packet of rainbow drops the other day. They have not changed at all (& the packet was bigger than I remember).
There is a seller on e-bay who sells bag/packets of sweets from days gone by. Defo worth a look, I just bought 15 packets of space dust. He also sells pineapple chunks, chweing nuts etc - I might as well send him my wages directly from my bank!!!

I certainly do; they were very artificially coloured and flavoured, and I really hated them!! I loved Puff Crunch, cherry lips, scented cachous, Parma Violets, Victory lozenges and the original Halls Mentholyptus, which were about 5 times stronger than they are now, not to mention proper Frys chocolate in layers, original Mars bars (the newer ones are just horrible) Hollands Creamy Toffees, Mackays toffee bars, aniseed balls made with real aniseed, Squirrel toasted coconut squares, and Trebor mints. Those were the days when sweets had a flavour, not just sugar!!

Small, square, hard boiled sweets. weren't they?

Spangles
Spangles were made by Mars. They were fruit flavoured square boiled sweets - in a tube (like refreshers). They were taken off the market back in the early 1980's but they were re-introduced in the 1990's due to popular demand.
However it seems that the people then remembered why they had not bought Spangles in larger quantities first time around and the sweets were withdrawn again.

um yes but there was so little choice then comparatively and less sugar in our diet so anything probably tasted great. I remember some kind of lovely caramel finger with runny toffee in and later something called a 'swisskit' ' I'd risk it for a swisskit 'was the ad! I think it was gerbil food coated in chocolate.

I remember that the writing on the packet was the same lettering style as the title to the show 'The Goodies'
How about Pacers? Stripey, minty chews.
