If you can't beat them join them. I guess every group has it's history but then again let's look at your points.
The people killed in Japan during WW2 were a big loss and that is truly sad but it ended what possibly could have been a very long and bloody war and if you compare the lives lost in the bombing versus the lives that may have been lost in the long drawn out war many people (japanese scholors included) agree that fewer people died in the bombing than would have died in the war if it were let continue.
Mai Lai was the act of only a handful of people that was not authorized by the government or the people. That would be like saying that all muslims are evil disgusting horrible people because of the things terrorists do.
Americans are not persecuting the people of Afganistan or Iraq. They are free to go about their business, run their shops, walk camels through the desert etc... They are fighting against those who do not wish for peace. if tomorrow all of the bombings and stupid religious fighting stopped the americans would be out of the middle east within a month. I'm not happy that america has become the babysitter to the unruly immature countries of the world that cannot contain their own problems but I don't see anyone else stepping up to the task

Merciless? I think you need to read a little more than the bad pages of history... The USA has compassion and Mercy. There are very few countries that haven't seen some type of Aid when they were in trouble. Medical, Financial, Transportation assets... and on occasions Military. To lump us with the likes of Adolf Hitler is a very strong offense Where he was known for his total disregard for human life, WE ARE NOT! We have transported children and injured to the USA for treatment many time for injuries or sickness that could not be treated in the persons own country. We sent medical personnel around the world to assist people to poor to get medical aid on their own. We have pulled together many tons of supplies to help countries that have been struck by natural disasters. Your opinion is that all Americans are blood thirsty, and that is far from true! Yes history has painted some Americans as killers and that some Americans have done unspeakable things, BUT you must also know that most were punished where it was warranted. Nagasaki and Hiroshima are exceptions in that There was a war going on and to save more lives and to attempt to end a possible more protracted and costly war the President ordered the dropping of Nukes. Since that time No other nuclear weapons have ever been used and the USA has refused its use in anything but as a retaliation for a Nuke attack. Look at some other leaders and you will note Sadam Husain ordered the killing by nerve gas of Kirdish civilians with no reguard and with no ability to defend themselves. Adolf Hitler ordered the "extermination" killed of many Millions of Jews, Muslims, Catholics, Gypsys, Etc... for his own political views of the perfect world, and started a World War that destroyed many more millions of his own countrymen and those of many more countries because of his "views". The USA has NEVER ordered the extinction of any country or its people!!! Please be so kind as to read ALL of the pages of the history you are looking into before your close your mind and open your mouth! It just shows how much you DO NOT KNOW!
Have a nice day....

Oh, pleeeease.. Mercilessness, is the intentional infliction of pain, torment, or torture. You conveniently omitted the fact that the Nazi's were responisble for the deliberate, attempt to eradicate an entire population. And did so in a brutal manner. Not simply killing, but tormenting, and drawing out said acts. The japanese, were also guilty of similar crimes. Their values at the time said surrender was disgracefull, and anyone doing so should be mercilesssly tormented as a punishment. It's because of this value and it's repurcussions that the decision to nuke Hiroshima, and Nagasaki was made.
For every Mi Lai, there's thousands of similar or worse atrocities committed by twisted groups worldwide. Not done in the "heat of battle" but as a deliberate act done for the enjoyment of watching others suffer.- And take the fact that the U.S. and americans give more in foreign aid, and charity per capita than any other people in the world.
You tell me, who'se the merciless one?

Who has America killed in Palestine? What of the Soviets mass murder of all who disagreed with them by Stalin & the like. What hitler did, what Stalin did, what Saddam did all were acts of evil with the purpose of eliminating opposition by the hundreds of thousands or millions. Those were genocide.
American has not always been perfect. We've certainly had individuals do bad things - those people are prosecuted & put in prison or worse. The rest is war, and many innocent people unfrotunately die in war. Many were killed in the nuclear attacks on Japan in 1945, but this ended the war when an invasion would have cost 5 times the number of lives, therefore that attack saved lives & they were American & allied lives as well as Japaneese. It is not the numbers you are responsible for killing (still America would be far down that list by comparison to many others in history), but the resons for which you take those actions & what is accomplished in the end. The blood it takes to get there is just the price tag.

I wouldn't consider Americans the most merciless. We've seen our fair share of bloodshed, and fought in injust wars or even just wars using injust means, but America isn't exactly out to commit genocide on anyone as a number of others could be. The problem comes in the strength of the American army, and the eagerness to use it. America is simply capable of much more than most other countries. However, many of its acts of war were thought to be acts of mercy or in defense of our allies and/or weaker nations, rather than hatred.
Americans would do well to remember history though. I am a bit confused that the country which becomes most irate at other nations developing nuclear technology (possibly not even weaponry) is also the only nation to have ever used a nuclear weapon offensively.

You are obviously an idiot. It is not that your methodology is flawed -- there is no methodology. Instead of a coherent historical approach, your argument is a morass of suppositions, presumptions, whimsical musings, prejudices and attempts to reconcile the mutually incompatible views and interests of the various members of the committee which drafted it. It has so many more holes than fabric that it simply disintegrates when handled.
In addition, your “Hitler” comment is a moth-eaten cliche. It is the perfect description of this verbose and self-contradictory nonsense masquerading as a guide to persuade the dumb and ignorant to side with your views.
Many envy the institutions and economy that ensure our dominance; others deeply resent us for the same. But all are watching our example—and all understand, at some level, that the stability of the world today rests on the ability of our system and economy to endure.

The Vietnamese, Afgani's and Iraqi leaders murdered more of their own people than America did.
The Japanese bombed us first and there are video tapes of their soldiers throwing babies in the air and catching them on bayonets.
The Chinese have concentration camps throughout their country to this day. And they routinely 'throw' away any daughters that are born since each couple is only allowed to have one child. Hence, you've never seen a chinese male adoptee.
Historically Russian leaders are known for rounding up and executing large numbers of their citizens and had "work camps" through to the end of the Cold War.
African nations have and are currently engaged in genocide against other tribes - 400,000 massacured in March alone.
40,000 lives lost was the way to "Presidential" victory for Chavez.
Get your head out of your *** IF America is so awful why do people risk their lives to get here? We are the only nation in the world whose "borders" are flooded by immigrants.

Since the first part is rhetoric lets tackle the end of your rant. Afghanistan and Iraq will definitely be forgiving us; they'll probably be thanking us for decades if not longer. Palestine won't even exist unless the United States supports it - period.
Civilians have no doubt and will no doubt be killed in our pursuit of just governments, peaceful coalitions, and a world without the likes of terrorist, evil dictators and fanatical lefties (funny how they are all on the same side huh)

I would say this is not true.
The war between Japan and the United States began with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and was ended with Nagasaki and Hiroshima. What you are suggesting is that Japan was an innocent victim...They were the agressor.
