No, if you have been listening, like most haven't, it's all about wealth and power. The only way democracy factors into it is an excuse for the people in power to get their country to fight. It's like fighting for "GOD", Fighting for "Democracy". This 'sham' on normally good people has been perpetrated for centuries. The more educated you are the more you understand. So why do you think the Neocons in the US are cutting back on education like there is no tomorrow?

Danger to the FREE world? Well no part of the world is free without democracy, and yes the price for it is extremely high, but to be a democratic nation means you were once oppressed and owe to all still in tyranny the support (war if needed) to achieve freedom (democracy). If the cost be millions, then it will be paid today as it has been in every generation. Despite public complaints, Americans (at least a chunck of them) are brave people willing to sacrafice from freedom around the world. Peace & prosperity are always secondary to that concern.

As you put it, the Free World isn't Free! To get a true view of what the costs are what its worth maybe you need to read a little closer on your own into other areas of the history and not allow the opinions of others influence your views as you obviously have. Democracy isn't perfect and the costs for the freedoms democracy allows is at times very high. As for the fight against terror, the war has been raging for years and in many different countries to include many you listed. But to do nothing only allows the terrorist to accomplish his/her goal and by turning a blind eye toward the victim, the damage, the political unrest, gives silent approval for the politics by murder and destruction instead of forums and peaceful law making. I'm sorry the cost is high, but to me its worth it because I still have a voice in what my country does or not and the Government cant choose my position in life until I allow them to... That is well worth it for me and my family

Your question is absolutely loony.
Japan: they were a bloodthirsty empire who wanted to dominate all of Asia. Did you ever read about the atrocities the committed against the Chinese? You would question their humanity.
Vietnam: Communism's goal was world conquest. Enough said.
Lebanon: Bush has managed to get Syria to withdraw its troops from Lebanon. Chalk up one for the good guys.
Somalia: The U.S. only intervened to try and stop the government from starving people it saw as a threat to its iron rule. Once again, we were the good guys.
Afghanistan: The ignorant, backward Taliban had enslaved women in stifling burkas, and eliminated 1300 years of social, political, and economic progress. Now they are free. They are once again a legitimate nation, that can proudly stand amongst the civilized democracies of the world.
Iraq: We freed them from a brutal dictator who was raping the wealth of the country for his own selfish desires. Saddam and his rotten clan had siphoned off BILLIONS.
Iran: We are giving them every opportunity end our dispute in peace..... every opportunity.
We're the good guys. Do you disagree?

The RACE FOR ENERGY!
Remember, the planet is running out of oil, and if you disagree, think for a moment-- Can it last forever?
So, there you go. The HUNT to control the last remaining oil and the fights associated with it are the BIG game now. Whoever invents the next energy wave will either be killed or bought out by the US government, or the Brits, or the Europeans...
Play ON!!!
