YES!!! My son, who is now 12 years old, started the cello at the age of nine. Eight is not too young. If that is what he wants to do, then by all means find a way for him to do it!.

Good luck

Definitely! I started the piano at eight. It is a good age to start. You can't wait too long, otherwise the learning capacity shrinks. Young children are supposed to pick up things faster. I believe that it is a good age to start because the eight year old child is often more mature and understanding than a three year old. I can't believe how many parents start their children so young. The cello! It is an odd instrument that sounds great! How many times can the average person say, "Hey, I know someone that plays the cello!" It would be a unique experience for him. Go for it!

Definately. If cello is something that he is interested in I would encourage him to learn. Musically minded kids score higher on standardized tests.

Yes, It's good for the future! People that learn to play instruments have better grades and graduate collage sooner. Scientist have figured that out. Also, he needs to pick what he wants to play. It's his choise.
