Just a guess.

Oh my goodness, I have a story! When I was like 5 years old, I was in the school bathroom, and we had those terrible bathroom doors where the locks aren't lined up correctly, so they don't close very well. Anywho, I was going potty, like seriously going potty, and this girl breaks the door open, and after her standing there for what seemed like forever, she finally walked away, only to come back a few minutes later with another little girl. So there I am on the toilet, and I have 2 girls, which I don't know standing there watching! It was probably the most humiliating thing that has ever happened to me, even at such a young age. I probably won't ever forget that experience. Needless to say, if I ever have to do more than pee in a bathroom now, I wait until I get home!! haha! Ü

Their need to go at the time out ways their judgment, kind of a sub conscious reaction. They really hope while having no hope that the door isn't really locked.

They are only trying to point out to the person in there that THEY ARE TAKING WAY TOO MUCH TIME!!!!!

Toilets should have meters on the *inside* of the door. You have to pay to leave.....and the longer you stay, the more it costs.

I think that would really reduce the numbers of TOILET HOGS we have to put up with!

hurry uuuuuuuuppppp!!!!! I gotta gooooooo!!!!!
nowwwww!!!!!
(doing the potty dance)

my cats just want to be in there with me and stick their little paws under the door or scratch at the door begging to come in. I guess they wonder what on earth I could be doing in there without them. maybe that's what the people who try to get into a locked bathroom door want to do. they just want to be with you, or they can't imagine what on earth you could be doing in there without them.
ooooooooooooooorrrrrr
maybe, just maybe, you're really a queen and they know it and they feel the need to be in your presence.

I think its a reflex to just try to open the door or they are checking to see if someone is in there.
