Last night my sister made burgundy beef and put so much black pepper in it that it made our mouths burn. It was inedible for four adults--we ended up making sandwiches instead. My mouth is still burning--I've never had this happen before, even when eating spicy food the burning only lasts a little while--mine has been burning since last night. Anyone else have this?

BTW--she completely ruined my burgundy beef recipe! GRRR!

Milk! Chocolate Milk OK too! Water doesn't work, ever. When you eat something spicy the milk neutralizes it. Water runs over the top. You've damaged your taste bugs. Good news though, since your mouth and lips heal the fastest over any other part of the body you won't suffer more than a few days. You did some damage though. Now YOU know what limits to take huh? Send her a funny "invoice" for damages, but be sure to put ha ha at the bottom. She probably feels horrible. Your mouth and lips heal the fastest because they are so much closer to your blood supply.

Drink milk and eat bread. the black pepper is probably stuck in the crevices of your mouth, so it continues to burn.
