Intelligence is the capacity we have to learn, can we have a great capacity to learn and still lack wisdom?

To those who ask why do is ask this question, I ask the same of your questions...
I ask mine because I want to see what people think. I can look up answers but that doesn't mean people living believe what I looked up. Like evolution, most evolutionists didn't even know the answers to where they thought they came from.

Wisdom comes from God. Knowledge is from what you know, from man.

Yes I think so! You have definitely noticed the difference between the two and yes one seems to be acquired, one is a state of being. And you can be really intelligent but be a dumbass and go round hacking computers!

I don't think there is anything that guarantees wisdom will follow knowledge, they are two differnt things. Wisdom tends to be simple and knowledge complex. Wisdom always implies a very useful purpose or that it is good in some way, knowledge wont neccessarily help. The more we know the more we know we don't know. Wisdom is generally the answer to our questions I have noticed.

Maybe I'm biased becuase I'm Christian but it says in proverbs old testament that the endless study of books will wear you out, and maybe it does give us a jaded view, much because we can't do anything with the knowledge weve learned sometimes.

That is a great question and food for thought! My answer is, yes, a person CAN have the capacity to learn but lack wisdom.

With the capacity to learn, one gains knowledge, which is familiarity with facts acquired by experience, observation, or study. WISDOM is more than just knowledge. It involves discernment and good judgment, especially concerning facts that relate to life and conduct. WISDOM is the ability to put knowledge to work. Discernment is “acuteness of judgment.” It is “the power or faculty of the mind by which it distinguishes one thing from another.

“The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God,” the Bible says. (1 Corinthians 3:19) To those not guided by the wisdom of God, the wisdom of the world seems impressive. There are lofty-sounding worldly philosophies that captivate the mind. Thousands of institutions of higher learning impart information from what many consider the greatest minds of mankind. Extensive libraries are replete with the accumulated knowledge of centuries of human experience.

What the Bible says about life manifests good judgment. But most people neglect this dependable source of wisdom by seldom, or perhaps never, reading the Bible. If they would seek the counsel of God’s Word and pay close attention to the wisdom it contains, they could avoid much confusion, unhappiness and much heartache. They would not make the grave mistakes that ruin so many lives and destroy so many marriages. A person can never go wrong by paying close attention to the wisdom of God’s Word and following it.

5 Wisdom is not the same as knowledge. Computers can store enormous amounts of knowledge, but it is hard to imagine anyone calling such machines wise. Nonetheless, knowledge and wisdom are related. (Proverbs 10:14) For instance, if you needed wise counsel on treating a serious health problem, would you consult someone with little or no knowledge of medicine? Hardly! So accurate knowledge is essential to true wisdom.

8 Wisdom brings knowledge, discernment, and understanding together and puts them to work. In fact, some of the original Bible words translated “wisdom” literally mean “effectual working” or “practical wisdom.”

Jesus’ said: “Wisdom is proved righteous by its works.” (Matthew 11:19)
Wisdom is the ability to put knowledge to work, or to use it, the intelligent application of learning. A person might have considerable knowledge but not know how to use it because of lacking wisdom. Solomon asked for and received from God not just knowledge but also wisdom. (2 Chron. 1:10; 1 Kings 4:29-34) “Wisdom is the prime thing,” for without it knowledge is of little value. (Proverbs 4:7; 15:2) Jehovah abounds in and provides both knowledge and wisdom.—Romans 11:33.

Absolutely! intelligence is the things we learn, wisdom is the application of the intelligence in a smart way. You can be the most intelligent person in the world and not know what the heck to do with it because you lack wisdom.

Everyone else gave you the little yoda saying, that yeah intelligence is learned and wisdom is expirience,

intelligence is based on genetics,
its inherit
you are born with it and if you get proper nutrition and attention from the environment you can maximize that intelligence

so for example my son has the potential to be as intelligent as me if not more
so if i play with him and read to him and teach him new words he will maximize his potential for intelligence

wisdom: this is obviously a pride issue, when someone learns from their mistakes they are said to be wise cause they know not to make the same mistakes, if they have pride they are called foolish

so the little star wars intelligence is education wisdom comes with expirience, yeah thats nice and all, but its nonsense

intelligence is a product of genetics, which with good parenting can be maximized
and yes, a mommy and a mommy could maximize that childs intelligence, so could a daddy and a daddy

and we all know i wont be picked for best answer cause the asker doesnt think mommies and mommies can make good parents

"Good Will Hunting" ... That movie with actor Matt Daemon, and actor Robin Williams tackled this struggle between the intelligent and wise. Matt Daemon was a poverished street kid who was violent but extremely intelligent ... he kept going to jail for violence; then the courts ordered him a psychologist ... anyways, somehow he ended up working as a janitor in a prestigious University, and he got the attention of one of the most brilliant mathematicians ... so the mathematician got Matt Daemon psychological sessions with good fellow buddy Robin Williams ...

Anyways, the line that stuck out to me was when the two were talking and Robin Williams states, "Sure you can tell me all about the Vatican, and the paint used in the Sistine Chapel ... but you can't tell me what it smells like or the feeling you get from standing under the art ".

Look no further than our federal government in the United States. It's full of intelligent people who have no wisdom at all.

How to reach wisdom
Inputs through senses, education and experiences develop by our brain into information.
Knowledge is how to use the information.
Windown abstracts the knowledge to reach beliefs and faith levels.
If inputs are wrong then intellegance can not develop knowedge and thus no way it brings wisdom.
Niether is the good inputs without intellegance.
