the Army will allow someone without their GED to enlist under the GED-plus program, where the recruiting battalion allocates funding to pay for the GED test provided the applicant passes the ASVAB with at least a 31. CAT IV (under 31) GED holders are not allowed to enlist. After enlisting, you must get your GED. If you do not, you are not allowed to ship to Basic Combat Training and are discharged from the Future Soldier Training Program. With a GED, expect no bonus from the Army. All you will receive is the Montgomery GI Bill. You can be considered a High School Diploma Graduate (thus eligible for bonuses) if you possess a GED and have 15 college semester hours.

the easiest (and fastest)way to get it would have been to not drop out in the first place(not passing judgement just stating fact).....The GED is WAAAAYYYY harder than any finals you would have had during high school. especially if you haven't been studying the subjects on a regular basis for the last couple of months....let alone years.... there is no fast or easy way. Unless you just take the test cold and pray you pass.

You can always take the GED (when it is offered). Call your local school district to see when the next test is. Since it is summer, they may not offer it again until late fall.

If your local school district cannot help you, ask the school district to give you contact information to the Intermediate Unit. Each district belongs to an Intermediate Unit (they provide services to schools so that the schools can afford to do various services). The Intermediate Unit will definately be able to help you.

Good luck!
