Sadness can be a result of a number of things.
I'm going to say that your sad because every minute of everyday somebody else is either controlling your every move or telling you what to do without you having a say so in it.
Your also sad because your wondering if there are any people out there who want an honest, trusting, loving relationship with you, which begins with open communication, a genuine friendship and a lot of giving.

an eyelash fell in your eye that was covered in mascara, so it stung really bad and temporarily blinded you. while you were frantically rubbing your eye, the rest of your eye make-up smeared with the tears that were running down your face. finally, when you regained your eye-sight, you looked up and were greeted by the hot guy that you work with. all the while not realizing that the goddess who walked out the door was now looking like a rode-hard tramp. after a seemingly normal conversation, you then went to the bathroom to recoop and saw yourself in the mirror.
oh the horror. you're sad because you now have no chance in h*ll with him.

well you probably are inlove with a guy and he is cheating on you and he has broke your heart or he has gone away and you have been dumped it could be alot of reasons life can be sad sometimes and it sucks but it will get better no matter what it is it can be fixed
