Is there a phone service I can use with a single number that rings in multiple locations in different states?

A friend of mine has a "follow-me" service, where it tries his cell, then his home phone, but I'm not sure who provides it. Both lines are in NJ; I'm not sure if it will work for out-of-state lines, but it's not limited to one area code, because his cell & home numbers have different ones.

check out vonage. i'm not sure if it rings in multiple locations but the number can travel with you do different state

Any VOIP phone service (voice over internet protcol) should work.
