Well I don't believe in a "soul/spirit" but if, say, Christians are right, Hell's for me. Greek Pagans; Hades, Roman pagans; Pluto Egyptians; Nowhere I guess, isn't the afterlife only for those who are "good" and those who are bad just don't get to live forever? Norse Pagans; either Niflheim or Hel, I forget to which the atheists go. Hindus; actually, I don't know anything about their beliefs, reincarnation I suppose as a lower caste.
I've probably left out plenty of religions, but that should answer your question for now.

Different religions have different beliefs regarding this issue. I personally take a more spiritual view on the matter. I believe that first of all, whatever someone believes is what he or she will experience after death...and secondly that I will be existing on a spiritual plane after death which is parallel to this plane of existence. However, I do believe that reincarnation is possible and that people can choose to be reborn after they die or choose to move on to the next plane of existence.
Here are some other views...
Catholics - Heaven (union with God) or Purgatory (temporary period of purification) or Hell (self chosen exclusion from God).
Conservative Protestants - Heaven (everlasting communion and fellowship with God) or Hell (absolute and utter separation from God).
Muslims - Paradise (seven levels) or Hell.
Buddhists - Basically reincarnation until reaching Nirvana (state of enlightenment).
Hindus - Moksha (self realization and the release from the reincarnation cycle), this is when the soul becomes one with God.
Atheists - No afterlife whatsoever.

I don't necessarily believe in a soul, in the Christian definition of the word. If anything, I think it's more likely that any sort of "persona" I may have will go and spread itself amongst other forms of life around me.
In essence, I'm talking about a form of reincarnation. But I don't profess to know or understand what happens after I die. And I'm not foolish enough to simply believe what someone tells me, either, especially when I see how wrong they've been about everything else.
