Besides sitting in the sun, what are other ways to get highlights without store bought items? Please help. As you can see, I have red hair, so don't tell me something that will ruin it!

A bit of lemon juice where you want the highlights will greatly increase the speed that the sun will need to do the job.

OK so I gather you want to look great, have you spoken to your stylist. There have been so many advancements in hair color. go to www.redken.com and find a salon. Redken has a great new color line called Shimmer 1, that is non amonia(this is where damage general stems) and will lift up to 1 level for that more natural looking highlight and less committment. A professional can help you get the tones you want vs. home box color which you pray turns out.

Besides sitting out in the sun or laying in a tanning bed, I dunno how else you would lighten and naturally highlight you hair. My natural color is dark red (I dye it blonde tho).

Buy John Frieda's Radiant Red (I think thats the name) line of shampoos and styling products. It'll ehance your color and bring out highlights. They work very well. I've used it and the blonde and brunette lines (I change my color alot lol) and they work really well!!

When you are out in the sun or laying in a tanning bed, spritz your hair w/ a mixture of half lemon juice and half water. Swimming will also give you highlights b/c of the chlorine.
