I'm a little unclear as to what you are asking.
If you are going to a movie or something, I don't think the information that you are having your period has to be mentioned at all. It is, after all, very personal information and has nothing to do with watching a movie or out for dinner.
Now, if you are asking what do you do when you have your period and you have the habit of being intimate with your date--and I trust this isn't DATES, but a DATE you are speaking of, it's not much more complicated than the first situation.
If you are old enough to be intimate with a person and you know the person well enough to be intimate with him, then two things are true:
The date is old enough to know that women have menstrual periods and shouldn't be shocked to know that you have one too
and
You should be comfortable enough with the person you are being intimate with to talk to him about something this unremarkable. If you aren't to the point of talking about personal subjects, why would you be getting so (ahem) personal with him?

a period is no excuse for not having sex
an orgasm during a period can cause a decrease in cramps
put a towel on the bed and all is well

Don't let your period bother you or stop you from dating. Have fun and all that you wish but think twice about anything further than that.
Good Luck :)

No big deal, it's not like you HAVE to have sex just because you are dating. It'll pass in a few days, honey, hold on till then.

nothing. Plug it and go out. If your old enough to be having sex and are into a mature long relationship he won't mind doing it. For some it feels better while you got it. but by the ? your not old enough to do it.
