Why don't Christians obey them? They don't say till Jesus shows up nor do they say “till they are fulfilled”

It is pretty clear “for all generations"

To me, it would appear that they read Matthew 5:17 and stop at the first 2 words: "Think not".

They have that down to a science, they just don't think.

In context Matthew 5:17-20 says:
"Think not that I am come to destroy the Torah, or the Prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For truely I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, not one iota (or Yud in the Hebrew Alephbet) or one tittle (the "crowns" or Taggin) shall in any way pass from the Torah, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That unless your righteousness shall exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."

The Christians are supposed to be following Torah even more righteously than the rabbis of the time! Of course, Talmud doesn't think much of that generation of rabbis, saying it was their "baseless hatred" that caused the Temple to be destroyed.

Perhaps Christians get around this by saying that Heaven and Earth have passed away? As far as I can tell they are still here. Perhaps it is that old "think not" thought process of theirs. I suspect that a better translation would be "even if heaven and earth pass...." since Torah is eternal in nature.

They don't realize that for one to violate a command of Torah it is as though he had destroyed it. Likewise, they don't understand the concept of what the word "fulfilled" means. I try to tell them that when I pull up to a full and complete stop at a stop sign, I have fulfilled the law concerning stop signs. But the fact that I have fulfilled the law doesn't mean that everyone else is now free to run the stop sign. (If they were consistant in their reading of this passage that is exactly how they would have to apply the words.)

The passage isn't saying that he came to do away with Torah or anything. It isn't saying he was going to violate the requirements of Torah in anyway. He was going to keep every command of Torah that applied to him and he wanted his followers to do the same.

So they should be out teaching each other to keep even the smallest of the commandments. Why aren't they doing this? Because they "think not".

Gee I don't know which one to deal with. God made the NEW TESTAMENT and it is different in a lot of aspects. God is not out to punish us but to save us, but since we think that we are so smart we outsmart ourselves and miss out on what God has for us. The one about the passover is over. The last passover was celebrated and the last passover lamb sacraficed. It is like asking why don't you celebrate your 20th birthday again. Why don't you pour the foundation of your house again??
Heb 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the NEW TESTAMENT , that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

This is part of the Old Covenant which even in the OT God said He would be making a new one. Jesus also declares that He brings a new covenant because they didn't keep the Old one. So first it was National for all of the generations of the Nation of Israel, Second they didn't keep it even back then and God instituted a new covenant, so no we don't go back to the old when God has canceled it.

Those are the Mosaiac laws. They are for the ancient Israelities. Christians are not under the Mosaiac laws because Jesus Christ set up a new covenant and Christianity.

I don't think I can answer this question without being offensive and rude to Christians. So, tempting as it is, I'm not going to do so. But you're right!

Atheism or bust!

Exactly. God will punish them and smite them for violations of Leviticus 19.19.

Good research.
