My heart is broken. I cannot imagine the family's grief. Here is the latest news....
The bodies of 2 U.S. soldiers were found mutilated and booby-trapped, military sources said today. Kristian Menchaca and Thomas Tucker went missing Friday after an attack on a checkpoint south of Baghdad. Their bodies were desecrated, and visual identification was impossible, sources said.

I cannot believe there are people out there that are pro-war even after this.

Why?

For the record... I am very patriotic and I do care about the innocent people. I simply posed a question to gain a better understanding of something I did not understand. And most of all, I am supportive of our troops!

Ironically enough, we should continue with the war now, for the same exact reason we had for ending the war without taking out Saddam Hussein during Operation Desert Storm. It would create a power vaccuum in the country destabilizing the entire region, because every surrounding nation, and every billionaire sheik with delusions of grandeur would make a play to rule a country without a solid government and a means to defend itself. If we were to leave now, the entire region would be thrown into utter chaos. I'm a Marine. I am NOT pro war. But I do support the war. There is a difference. There are hard decisions to be made. And one of those hard decisions is to finish what we start. No matter how unpleasant it may be. And yes, "unpleasant" may well be the understatement of the century. But it is what it is. And we can't just up and leave millions of people ungoverned and undefended, no matter how badly terrorist organizations would like us too. And here's another thing to chew on. Terrorist organizations the world over are throwing resources and manpower at us in Iraq. This is true. But really, isn't it better for the U.S. to wage the war there, rather than on the streets of New York, or Chicago, or Charlotte?

I will pray for the souls of those we lost so horribly, and for their families who have to live with the loss. I ask anyone who reads this post to take a few seconds of your day, to pray to your God as well.

I think you listed to very good reasons not to leave now along with 2000 others. What would happen in Iraq if what's left of the coalition pulled out tomorrow?

The Iraqi's can not protect themselves right now. The entire country would be at the mercy of those who seek to destory it: the terrorists, those loyal to Saddam, the militias, and perhaps Iran. The power vacuum created by a withhdraw would certainly be filled by those people. So what? you might ask.

Then Iraq becomes what Afghanistan was. Sure, Iraq s brimming with terrorists now, but they are not sposored by Iraq. If we leave then that changes. Terrorists from all over the world would have a new homeland to plan and initiate their cold hearted attacks.

Certainly, those who seek to destory the new Iraqi government would claim the victory should we leave. Then what? They will say America was defeated. Do you think they just go sway at that point? Or are they emboldened? I think, emboldened.

If that happens then every soldier who has died there would have died in vain. If that happens, then a whole lot of other people in a whole lot of other countries including, perhaps, the US die as well.

Agree with the war or disagree with the war, the US and the others have a responsability to finish what has been started. Not only to the Iraqi people who they promised to libererate, but to all of us al well.

Heart broken or not there are principals and ideals that were set out to be accomplished that have been left unfinished. If we all quit in the face of adversity this country would have never been founded. While I may not agree 100% with the war and how it is being fought, I do believe that it would send the wrong messege to just pull out. I think it also important to remember that every soldier, sailor, marine and airmen volunteered for the military. There is no draft and though there may be rationalizations that I signed up for my education ect, the fact is the mission of our armed forces is to fight where and when told. It is much better to fight on the streets of Bagdad than the streets of Chicago.

It's obvious sometimes the only way out of something is to walk away from it. Whether the U.S. likes it or not, they will walk away from it. Korea, Vietnam, and now Iraq. There are some things you just can't win. As soon as the U.S. stops the War in Iraq, they can really start the War on Terror. Remember the War on Terror is not one single Nation or Religious Belief. So why is it that the U.S. is over ther going on FIVE YEARS NOW?? The Main Problem is that the U.S. is going to have to look itself in the Mirror and face up to all of the Dirty Things they have been doing for years. If you go to sleep with these bad people, you will have to face them sooner or later. I mean just think it was about 15 years ago now where the U.S. was funding the Taliban!! Training from the CIA in Afghanistan, weapons given to Saddam Hussein. People need to Wake Up Already, and look through all of the smoking mirrors and Proganda...

It is true that we are very selfish people as a country and we should be saddened by all of the innocent poeple that have been affected by this war. And I think that we have to be extremely stupid as a nation to listen when Bush said we didn't do anything to them, "They hate us for our freedom" and we listened. We actually believed that people would leave their wives and children and families to come here and kill themselves simply because the Afghans said one day "Look at those Americans over there being free with their voting and their free speaking newspapers. Lets kill ourselves to get them for it!" And all the pro war people wouldn't have been pro war if Bush had said "There aren't any weapons of mass destruction and these people had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks, but we want to attack them go to a long and costly war with Iraq anyway" they probably wouldn't have been so pro war. But to leave now would send Iraq into an all out civil war which will probably happen anyway, but we have an obligation to leave them in a better situation than the mess Iraq is in now.

This is an unfortunate part of war. War is never pleasant. People in the free world take for granted all of the wonderful freedoms and choices that we have. Believe it or not, war has provided you the freedom to write your opinion on the internet!

Most of my family and friends are currently serving in Iraq. I fully support them and their efforts; therefore, in your eyes, I am pro-war. You cannot be "for the soldiers" and anti-war. It is an oxymoron.

You may not be in favor of the war, but it is unpatriotic of you to voice anti-war comments during any conflict. Save the comments for afterwards, when morale of our brave soldiers is not affected by the political ramblings. Right now, our men and women in uniform need our undivided support (whether you are pro-war or anti-war).

God bless our soldiers, their families and loved ones, and our great nation.

We destroyed the Iraqi government. Whether the reasons were justified or not, we are now obligated to the people of Iraq to ensure their stability until they are able to stand up on their own. If we leave now, we would see genocides and ethnic fighting much worse than what happened to those poor soldiers.
Sadly, we're stuck there for a long time.

According to the US government, to help fight terrorism....gimme a break...Isn´t sending the troops to a useless, pre-manufactured war an act of terrorism itself?
Nobody wins at a war.
PS: All the people in Iraq are suffering too, even more than the Us soldiers, and nobody seems to remember that. Most of them aren´t lucky enough to get their names on the news...SAd,sad,sad.

What would have happened in world war two if every time two soldiers were killed we debated stopping the war?

Grow up.

Because the government still has a lot of no-bid government contracts to give out to American corporations that contributed to the campaign fund.
