Chalupa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A chalupa, in Americanized Mexican cuisine, is a soft corn or flour tortilla served with beans or meat (or both) and garnished with salsa, chopped onions, and the like. The tortilla is arranged into a canoe shape (in fact, chalupa literally means "canoe" in Spanish). The ingredients are piled on top of the tortilla in a manner similar to a tostada (though the latter employs a fried tortilla). Chalupas sold at Taco Bell and McDonald's restaurants, though widely familiar, more closely resemble American-style tacos.
Chalupa is also a Czech and Slavic surname. In the Czech language, the word means "little house."

It s another name for tostada but Taco Bell DID NOT INVENT IT!!!! They want to take the credit for it (just like everyone else who steals ideas and then calls them their own and NEVER give credit where credit is DUE!) A chalupa is actually a canoe like boat but the word chalupa was used to indicate that the toasted tortilla was like a boat holding foods like beans, meat and veggies. In some parts of the country, the word chalupa is used to indicate the specific layered food while in other parts of the country they use the word tostada. Same layer just different name. Chalupas or Tostadas have been around a lot longer than Taco Bell!!!

google it and make it at home. It sounded Yummy. The way they did it is taking a burrito, toasted it and filled it with hambuger meat and veges and slapping on jalapeno.
