Do you mean tht he does this on purpose? Or that he's just a bit baby-clumsy? Don't be alarmed, but SOMETIMES autistic people do things like bang their heads against the wall on purpose. On the other hand, I've been told that I did this, once, out of frustration at being given a time-out, when I was in the "terrible twos," and I'm not autistic (just a tad weird). If it keeps happening, maybe a neurological checkup is in order. It's probably nothing, but better safe than sorry. Good luck!

i would have to say that you need another opinion because for a child of the age of one to repeatedly hit is head on the wall there is a problem and it is more than likely autism and i know this first hand because i helped take care of two autistic cousins and that was one of the first signs, the other signs to look out for is if he cant talk well at least what he should be able to do at one yrs of age. my best advice is go through a program that you should be able to get into through your public health building called healthy families of whatever state you are in. and it is called Early Intervention they would be able to run tests on your child and nothing internal it would all be assesments based on certian markings and so forth. i would definately get some help though.

If your son is doing this on purpose consistently then "No" it's not normal. Does he make eye contact with you? There are many children out there who have autism, and it's important that you make certain this is not what is going on with your son. You are the mother and you have instincts, make sure you use them. Often times mothers are right on target with their instincts, so perhaps it's time you got a second opinion for your son.
Be persistent as long as you feel there is a problem and good luck!

Yes it is, my son used to do the samething and I used to always stop him until I just started to ignore him bumping his head into the wall. He then stopped and found something of other interest.

I read about his at http://www.babycenter.com Yes, it normal. I was worried my son was going to give himself brain damage! I did it as a child, so did my husband and both of my siblings. All of my friends with children also say that their babies do/did it too. Don't worry so much!

Is he/she doing it when they don't get their way? My 2 year old went through a phase when she did it. She doesn't do it now. My 1 year old doesn't hit her head against the way; she bangs her head on the floor if she doesn't get her way
