How much for day care?

I'm planning on opening a day care in my home, but I don't know how much to charge. How much do you pay for child day care per week/per month?
What made you choose the day care that you use? Was it a certain certification? If so, what was it?

I was thinking about $100 dollars for every child, unless there are siblings. For a family of four, I was thinking about charging $100 for the first child enrolled and $50 for the next 3 children. That would add up to $250 for that family per week. Is that way too much to ask for?

I am going to get the certifications and license, I just haven't done anything yet.

I pay 120.00 a week. They are a very good day care. My son is being potty trained and they are helping,they also have cameras so I can watch from work. you have to get certified by the state before you can get a license to open but also depends on how kids your gonna have to.

You should at first try a grand opening rate at about $50 a weekish. Then, you could go on up after a couple of weeks to maybe $100 or something. Make sure the price is something you would pay for your own child to go to a daycare. My little Brother went to a daycare (well, a preschool) at a church. They had educational stuff and learned about their letters. Make sure you have an alternate plan, just in case the daycare thing doesn't work. And, make sure you can handle 5 or 6 3 and 4 year olds. You can charge any amount the market will take. It depends on where you are (neighborhood) Just call a few of the other daycare in the Phone book and ask them. First you must decide what age group children you will keep. You also need to get certified if you are going to care for than 5 children. Where I live It home daycare providers charge an average of $95.00 for infant wkly $68 for school age and $85 for 2-4 yrs
This is just average . Now the centers charge about $130-150 for infant. Call the Social services in your area and find out what they pay as well.(social service does pay for daycare for families with limited income),
Good luck.. ....you can make good money but it is hard work as well. The children are marvelous but the parent are a pain......

i take my kids to a home day care and myself and the childcare just discussed what they charge when i am not getting assistance through community child care and they are a licensed home day care, they charge 20 a day per child that comes out to 1200 a month.. child care is very expensive but if u want your child in good environment then if possible i would think that a parent would pay that kind of fee.. and that is full time price. we are talking 8-14hr day rate though. but for just watching kids inyour home and not going through all the hassles of becoming a licensed home daycarre there is no way i would pay more than say 100 dollars a week for 9 hrs day.

Usually it goes by the child's age. Ask the state that is certifying and registering you for labor market information. When my son was an infant it was $120+ per week, then $95, then $70...etc, as he got older at a corporate-owned daycare. We're living in a new city now and rates are very high at these chains. I'm considering a home daycare, but there is no curriculum, and no accountability when it's one person watching your kid. I think you should also get your state's list of certified home daycares and call and ask what their rates are. Then set yours accordingly.

I have 5 children,with the oldest(now 20) I had him in day care for about 2 years until my second child was born.Not wanting to put her in at just a few weeks old,I left my job and was a stay at home mom,and remained that way for 10 years,they are only little for such a short amount of time,then you kind of give them to the world with school and friends.When they are babies they should be at home.Also I'm a nurse,I worked 12 hour shifts forever!!Then went to 8 hour shifts it sucks!!!!You will so miss having off 4 days a week,I promise you.

Ok, usually private care is cheaper than public care. I paid $75 a week, full time for my daughter to be in daycare from the time she was 2-4. When she started going only in the afternoon after school, it was more like $40. Yes, you have to be certified to have a daycare in your home.

it totally depends where u live....my daughter lives in Orange County California....it is high there...$1,000 a month per child...I did child care for yrs....rates have changed since then....you get more if you are licensed etc.....the main thing to watch...have it in writing...and have ground rules...if they pick up the child late...charge them...also they need to pay a weekly rate...regardless if littly Ashley is sick for 3 days....I had a problem with that....they think..oh..I'm not coming today....so dont pay...just have your rules from the beginning....$125. a week at least I would charge.

The daycare for my son is priced by age group. He is 3 and it is 250 a week. It's the best daycare in my city and so worth it for what he is learning. It also is a preschool and kindergarten.
