In gradeschool and middle school, I used to be able to do sit-ups and crunches, but now, abour twelve years later, I can't even get my head up off the floor. I wanna do what the ab lounge does, but I don't even think it works unless u can get it off the floor, and I used to be able to do that with myself for free, now I can't...but want to again. I want a flat tummy...and washboard abs, so then I can continue living and eating the way I do(sedentary, and moderately healthy), and not have to worry for a little while about acquiring a tummy. Besides(I know this will NEVER happen), but I'd like my mom to shut up for once about my big belly...she minds it more than I do, she keeps saying I look pregnant when she knows I never was. She wants a skinny mini, and IF by doing this she'll get off my back, I'll be glad, because it's a small price to pay for her to SHUT UP for good!. I do try telling her this, but she won't listen to me. Any advice on this is appreciated. Thanks.

Are your knees up, when you are trying to to the crunch? If you are trying with your legs flat, that may be part of the problem. Just start raising your head, then do head and shoulders. Do 3 reps, holding for 10 counts. Then when you can do that easily, increase to 3 reps holding for 15 counts.

Once you can do that, see if you can raise not only head and shoulders and mid back off the floor for the same count Take it slow, but do it steadily. If you have time, do a set morning and evening.

Ask your mom to take you to the doctor to be tested for hyperinsulinemia with a fasting blood insulin test. Your weight may be due to a metabolic condition.

I think it's great that you want to do the stomach crunch.

First, I think the easiest way to get you there is to do some cardio exercise. Walking is the best exercise. It is low impact (knees, ankles) and you can do it anywhere. Start off with 20mins/ day. You can even squeeze this in during lunch time. If you have a gym membership, elliptical machines are great too.

Have you ever tried a stability ball? If you set yourself up on the ball, you don't have to be on the floor. Plus, crunches using the ball are more effective since you also need to balance using your core muscles. Even just sitting on a stability ball rather than a couch will help cuz you need to use your core muscles to stabilize yourself. Try it! They have it at Target, Walmart, any sporting good store.

Otherwise, you can start a trial gym membership. They have stomach cruch machines where you are not laying down.

you need to start slow. easy excercises first. if you cant do a full sit up dont worry. do what you can, then slowly increase. to better answer yr question visit>>>
