After 10 years my cat has decided to piss all over my house. I have two cats. This is the male. He just looks at me and squats. He goes everywhere not just the same spot. why would he pick this habit up now?

thanks for all the responses. And yes he has been fixed. He's already had a urinary tract infection years ago. But I am taking him to the vet asap.

he probably has a urinary tract infection. That is usually why cats do that.

It's true that this may be caused by a uanary or bladder infection. I was wondering if you're cat has been fixed, if not, he may be doing what's know as "spraying" this is the way that an adult male cat marks his territory. Especially if there's another male cat thats been hanging around even if outside of the house. The best bet is to have him fixed. This will not only help control uranary infections but will keep him from "spraying" if that's what he's doing.

Like others have said, there's a very good chance of a bladder infection. And unfortunately these can recur, as I found out with a cat I used to have years ago.
You may want to try giving him a cat food that's formulated for urinary tract health. Purina puts out a good one, and I don't think it will hurt your other cat.

It could be an infection or he might haev something even more serious. ask your doc to check out his sugar levels also. My moms 12 yr old cat couldnt control her bladder and it turned out she had a MAJOR urinary infection caused from diabetes. I'm not saying thats your case, but it doesnt hurt to check out all the possibilities. Good luck with your cat!

Older male cats tend to develop urinary track problems. Regular habits then change and they become children again. See a vet.

Sometimes they do that if they have a bladder infection. Check with the vet. It could be solved as simply as by getting a prescription.

i dont think that your cat has a bladder infection, maybe he is mad at you. Thats what happened with my friend - she had 2 male cats, and one peed on her moms bed, so she had to get rid of them both. Sometimes they do that, but i dont think its a problem, maybe research it. Goodluck though. Oh and when he pees, go and set him near his litter box, maybe that'll teach him again.

Take him to the Vet now! He definitely has a problem. If you wait, you could lose him. Do not delay. GO NOW!

He is probably sick. Cats would never choose just to pee everywhere. He either can't help it or is trying to tell you something. Bring him to the doctor.
