My friend has had an itchy rash on his arms and legs for about a week now. Like I said it's itchy and looks like clustered pimples. He thought it was Poision something since he was doing yard work before he got it. Does this sound like Poison Ivy or something? Also, what can speed its recovery? And can it be passed from skin contact??

Sounds like Poison Ivy. It can be passed from skin contact as it is the oils from the plant that cause the rash. Definitely don't touch it, and don't scratch. There are topical cremes at the drug store for this. If it doesn't clear up in a week or so, go to the dermatologist.

You certainly are providing sound advise to your friend.

Experiencing body issues can require the skills of Sherlock Holmes. The first thing to do is look at what changed (typical problem solving). Was there exposure to something new (either environmentally or in terms of food consumption). Asking this question is easier than finding the answer because we all have blinders on.

We assume that certain things cannot be problems. For instance, thinking that we could have developed an allergy to some common things - such as wheat, dairy, or sugar are unthinkable.

If there is no external source your friend should start a serious dietary examination. Eliminate sugar, wheat and dairy are the best ways to start. These days that is not easy and the best that can be done may be to minimize. However, if the individual is dilligent by eating fresh veggies, salads, and meats (preferrably grass fed beef and organic chicken) then the body can heal from the attack.

Just a quick note: Sugar is evil to the body. The toll it takes, and is taking, on people is enormous. Diabetes is taking off in our soda and sweet society. It's out of control and damages the body's ability to heal from items such as the break out your describing. One reason for this is the chemical changes that sugar causes in regards to calcium depletion. Calcium is required for cellular healing.

I hope all this helps and check out the link I provided because the nutritional products they have there are whole food nutrition designed to provide real food for healing.

Sounds like poison ivy or sumac. yes it can be passed from skin to skin and in the air. Do not rub or break open the bumps. Several things help me I am very suseptable to poison and get it often. Bleach is wonderful for stopping the itch and drying up the poison. Use it everytime it itches. Also lye soap(sold in country stores) get it wet and rub onto the bumps and let it dry. Do not waste your money on the over the counter products except for the external clear liquid benedryl. They are meant for a little poison ivy. Wear loose clothing and don not bandage the bumps. Do not take a bath it will getr in the water and you will have it everywhere. If it gets really bad you can go to the doctor and they can give you pills or a shot. Change your clothes often and wash them right away. Good Luck!

No transition from skin contact only from contaminated objects ( shoes tools clothes gloves ) wash with Lysol as it will dissolve the oil. Try a Med-role steroid pack. It is be prescription only. You take like 6 the first day then 5 then 4 you get the idea. It helps dry up the sores in a couple of days.

My husband gets it every year and we have tried a lot of OTC products . also there are chemicals that will kill poison Ive they work like roundup but only for poison Ive and Nettles.

If it is poison ivy it can be passed if the rash is open and weeping. Hydrocortisone cream over the counter should help. If it does not go away see a doctor!

It could be a heat rash. Pimples may indicate blisters, If he did come into contact with a poison something take him to the clinic. Don't touch it especially if the blisters weep.

Sounds like poison ivy, especially if its oozing and crusty. It can spread from skin to skin. not so much person to person.

Keep it clean. Try not to itch it. Benedryl will help.
