difficult question. especially in the dog category. if it was a dog you lost, you can never replace the dog, but you should either enjoy the freedom you have now, or get a new dog that reminds you of him. i had a dog named eli and when he passed on i found a dog that looked and acted just like he did as a puppy. i named him eli 2, but call him deuce.

When I was around 7 or 8, my dad brought home a half chow/half german shepherd puppy. I loved him and we have him for over ten years. In March, he died and I still feel empty. I think I would feel better if we got a new dog. I know nothing can replace Smokey, but a new dog would divert my empty heart and give me something to love again.

April 17 the day after Easter I had to set her spirit free free I believe that still she is with me watching over me and my husband . I still cry when I think of her she was so faithful and gentle I will miss her always

Well the best thing is to think about how happy your pet is and that its gone to a better place and also consider the fact that there is always room for another pet! But, always think of your pet at church were Jesus can protect your dog.

I truly believe you never get over it, but the pain does fade somewhat. Go to the web site for "Rainbow Bridge", read the poem and really get into the site. I lost my kitty last year. This site really helps.

You remember the good times you had, and that your love would NOT want your life to grind to a halt, with them as a cause. Live your life, because you know they'd WANT you to. And if they loved you as you loved them, they WOULD.

You just take it one day at a time, and the pain will slowly ease.
