No it is not okay. Gas is a sign that your diet is problematic. This seems like a joke but excessive gas is your body telling you that what's going in isn't being processed well.
A lot of people think they eat well because they have milk and cheese, meat, etc. The problem is that milk has a lot of issues and can be a common source of digestive issues and related gas. I know for myself that I cannot have any milk - even organic from free range cows (it's an enzyme issue). There are many items beyond milk that can be problematic but this is a good starting point. If you absolutely need to have milk think about the products that are for lactointolerance (although I do not recommend them). You may want to try rice milk over soy milk because many people have issues with excessive soy found in our diets these days.
Hopefully you are still young and are open to modifying your diet. Focus on eatting raw foods for snacks instead of junk foods and avoid milk products for starters.
You should consult the reference source site I listed as it has been tremendously helpful to me regarding nutrition and diet.

People pass gass on an average of 14-23 times daily. That is normal. However, if you have bloating or cramps/pain associated with more frequent occurance, you could have a medical problem. Fot more info, visit : http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/g/gas/intro.htm Good luck !

I would suggest moving to the Marshall Islands, where flatulence is considered a great sign of strength and leadership amongst the natives. In fact, if you are really accomplished at farting, and, IF, your farts are particularly rancid... you could be elected king of the local tribe.

Go to your family physician. The problem is likely treatable. If accompanied by other symptoms (excessive acid, loose stool), it could be medical. On the other hand, it could simply be related to the foods you are eating (vegies, beans, carbonated beverages, etc.)

Either get some Beano or let it rip!
(Beano - take some, and there'll be-no gas!)
My wife does it at work and she just blames it on a garbage can or someone walking by! I say - blow your as$ off in that elevator!

Don't fart in public or around other people-it's rude and smelly-not funny.
If you're having a major problem with it-go see a doctor.
