There's a site here that lists where/how to request marriage record copies for each of the 50 U.S. states.

http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/howto/w2w/w2welcom.htm

If your grandparents were married before your state started keeping marriage records statewide you'll probably have to contact the county clerk (or whatever that state has for the equivalent officer) where the marriage occurred.

Good luck!

Contact your nearest public library. They have guides for this sort of thing, and can also help you find online sites as well. The library version of Ancestry.com is available in some public libraries, and at most Latter Day Saints( Mormon) Family History Centers. It costs $10,000.00 a year so not every place has it. You don't want to subscribe unless you have lots of money or are really serious about genealogy. The home version is about $150.00 a year.
Please be aware that you won't find their actual marriage record online. You will have to send away for it. Online you will find out where the actual marriage license is housed and how to purchase a copy.

My state historical libraries have compiled the marriage records into book form. The problem would be that you'd need to go to the state historical library to look up the information.

For example, the state library in Indiana, located in Indianapolis, has the records here.

Look at the state website for where they were married. I have found many records that way. Just do a search for "marriage records for ______" (list state).

Try rootsweb, it is free. Ancestry is not, but recently both combined there database. When you search be sure to use the rootsweb search.
The other two sites are free also. So, if you can't find the exact date in rootsweb, try the other 2.
Hope this helps!

Why don't you just pay a little money and go online to http://www.ancestry.com

It works and it's not such a hassle!
