That's absolutely what it is. Same sex marriage is a civil and therefore HUMAN right that is being denied. This is unacceptable in a country who's motto is; "with liberty and justice for all".
That's why most countries are now moving forward and legalizing same-sex marriage. Only the most repressive and retrograde of countries are outlawing it...

I believe that everyone should have the same protection under the law. If Homosexuals want to be married in a civil ceremony that is their right however I do not feel that churches should preside over Homosexual unions for the simple fact that the bible calls such behavior unrighteous right along with fornication, adultery, and a whole string of other offenses. P.S. I am not a homophobic.

Did you ever check the polling for the popularity of democrats?

The issue with "gay marriage/unions" is not that they are having them. The majority of Christians are not going to or even desire having any laws that forcibly prevent gays from living together.

The issue for Christians breaks down into two groups, the Protestants who say it is against scripture (ie "Because God says so" argument) and the Catholics/Orthodox who say it is wrong according to natural law (ie "because it is philosophical and rationally against the operation of the universe (or Plan of God)).

Christian of both types see the "gay marriage/union" as an attempt by homosexuals to get them and Christianity (and philosophy) to say that Christianity has been wrong about homosexuality and it is really ok (I mean really really OK! as in the best thing since sliced bread).

BTW the ancient pagans, Greek especially, who accepted homosexuality would have laughed their heads off over this whole "gay marriage/union" thing and would not have supported it because they understood that the homosexual relationship is not the same at all as the relationship between a man and a woman. (Please people read your history!!!!)
