I looked on DCFS's website for the daycare I want to put my son in. Because it is religous based they are not inspected by DCFS. Is there any regulations in the state of Florida on these type of daycares? And any way to research them?

i dont know the regulations in fl but the best way is to ask other parents in your area. check them out without notice so you see them as they really are. also you can check with the churches in your area often churches have connected daycare facilities especially if the also have schools connected with them. aslo ck with your local school district they often have lists of local day care facilities for parents.

I have found over the years with my three kids, is that DcFS is not always the greatest judge of daycares. I found that going to the center and picking random parents one at a time and asking them questions. Any good center would be happy to allow you to ask parents if they mind giving imput.

You can type the name of the daycare in any search engine and sees what pops up.

Here is a story of one in Florida that is causing people to try to repeal the law exempts childcare facilities run by religious organizations from state licensure or regulation.

You can check with the Better Business Bureau in your area. Ask others who they use... ask neighbors, people at church, work, etc. etc.

Unfortunately, no. They are non-licensed daycares because of religion so they aren't regulated. The best way to check on them is to ask other mommies who use that daycare what their feelings on it are. If you do decide to place your child there, drop in unexpectedly to see what's going on and if you're comfortable with it.

Not that I have found. But, you can go to your local C.C.A. (child care association) office and they can give you a list of local day care centers. They can't discriminate and tell you which one's they get the most complaints about, but if you ask them 'hypothetically' which one they would send their child to, they might help you out. Having a hard time with that one myself. Daycare's in Florida are horrible!!!!

Why would you want to place your kid in a daycare in the first place? You can't trust them. They usually treat kids poorly. AND your child will greatly miss you. They need their mother/father and not some daycare worker.

Check out your local state website. Social service should have a link for you to see who is licensed and for how many kids. Also most schools will tell you if and how many CPS cases they have working currently. Ask for references for parents from the school.
