Move to a Spanish-speaking country for a few months. I was in Spanish classes in school for four years, and when I visited Mexico last year I couldn't converse with anyone without terrible difficulty. I was only there for four days, and I learned far more than I did in all those classes.

The best way is to immerse yourself in it as much as possible. When my mom moved from Quebec to B.C., she learned English in 3 months.
There are a lot of audio books (cd's) where you can learn Spanish without the use of books. A great company that makes these is Pimsleur. There excellent.
You don't even need to purchase these. There are a few audio book stores where you can rent them like Talking Book World. They have stores in the U.S. as well as Canada.
Once you start understand it a little, find a show on t.v. in spanish. The more you hear it, the better you will become.

Whole-language immersion is best.
Make a list of all the items in your kitchen and tape it up, start referring to the table as "la mesa" etc., do this with each room, your car, your clothes, expand it outside to learning common phrases and keep doing it.
As for verb conjuctation, I would recommend a book that is geared toward a first-year college class.
I took Spanish in 1993-1994 in college and keep up with it and it is beneficial because you can easily learn other languages from that.

There are several computer programs that you can use that work pretty well. Otherwise you can hire a tutor or use free websites such as conjuguemos.com or studyspanish.com. For computer programs you might want to search amazon.com or check out a Best Buy or other store that will carry computer games. (Target, Wal Mart, Costco)

Yeah, move to a country where Spanish is the primary language. You will pick it up in no time. Remember, necessity is the mother of invention........

Watch the spanish channel, hang out with people who speak it, live it, and enjoy it....and most importantly practice it because if you don't use it you lose it.........believe me!
