First, Davenport was a style of rocker. Then it was the name of a hinged fold out desk made by William Davenport. It later became the name of a large sofa that could convert into a bed.

OMG!!!That really brings you up short! That was the room we weren't allowed in except Christmas or very special occasions! I do remember it was covered in very rough scratchy fabric that sometimes looked pink and sometimes looked beige. A huge picture hung over it with a beautiful angel and two little children on a bridge and there were matching table on the end that had a little step that held matching lamps. At the time, it was very chic!!

YES, a couch, or sofa, but usually folds out into a bed. So, more of a "sofa-bed".
