It works both ways, my friend.

I believe the answer to your question is the same reason religious persons treat "non-believers" as heretics and heathens, forever doomed to burn:

Neither side listens to what the other is saying.

The funny thing is- for having such opposing views, they DO have one thing in common- their stubborness and unwillingness to live and let live.

I don't subscribe to any religion, but I don't condemn someone for practicing any lifestyle which teaches compassion, respect, and dignity.

There are many who believe (and many who disbelieve) who are guilty of not practicing what they preach, which is acceptance and compassion for all.

The problem with this forum is that it enables people to say things they normally wouldn't- everyone is an anonymous user.

Because people fear what they don't understand. Too many people feel a need to be superior to others, and this is an easy one for them. There is minimal science supporting any religions, so it's easy to scoff at people with faith in something that others don't understand.

And, for the record, this is coming from someone who does not believe in "God." I believe that there may be a higher power that created this world, but I don't worry about finding out for sure until I'm dead.

I believe that if you live a good life and treat people right, you don't have to go to church and formally acknowledge a religion. If there's a god that's so selfish that he requires worship to him on top of being a good person, then I guess I'll lose. But, I just can't believe that any god that I've ever heard of - who is supposed to be kind and forgiving - cares whether or not you praise him in a formal way.

For the same reason that some people who do believe in God treat people who don't as uneducated heathens in need of saving - they think they're right, and anyone who disagrees must therefore be wrong. (For the record, I believe in God but don't feel the need to insult those who don't.)

I feel that the over-saturation of religion in early developmental years may cause people to avoid learning new truths.

Personally, I like to avoid placing judgement on others, however many crimes against humanity have been committed in the name of god, so I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that because someone has a religion they are educated, compassionate, rational, or even a good person.

But then I wouldn't jump to ANY conclusions.

I don't know, why do people who believe in God treat people who don't like they are uneducated?

There are jerks on either side of the debate.

Because they can't see the light of the gospel.

In my opinion you need to believe to see it and people who doesn't believe they don't see.

Only Jesus can reveal his love to other people, so for them we are crazy.

Other thing is that they believe only on the human knowledge and things they don't know is crazyness. But remember "Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD." Jer 17:5 (KJV)

We need to love these people.

God himself said that for my name you will endure many tribulations. Its a small price to pay to go to heaven so don't even worry about it, when judgement day comes we will see who the stupid hicks are.

Maybe it's because some of them will ask logical, fact, history or science based question and get a response like because the bible said so, or read your bible, or the scriptures were not meant for swine, are you one.

You'd have to ask the person who treats you that way. Try emailing some that offend you. Some post their email addresses.

give me an example, and I'll figure it out for you. Also, consider the source. People on this forum do not represent anything but themselves
