Not all men men are egotistical. Not all men are this way - some women behave this way too. Regardless of gender, it is wrong for him to have done that.

Now, right or wrong set aside....as to his reasoning? He's probably not happy with some aspect of your relationship and is preparing a back-up plan.... if that's the case he needs to either resolve them with you, or end the relationship.

Another possiblity, (and the worst of the worst) is that he is planning on cheating on you.

Either way, at this stage, there are serious issues.

If he wasn't planning on cheating, but was having misgivings and making a backup plan, he should have at least respected you enough to wait until after he ended things with you before going to a dating site.

I have a friend who sounds exactly like the man you describe. He is supposed to marry this woman, but yet he flirts with other women in the personals. He's afraid of commitment and wants to keep his options open in case things don't work out. He is a big time player!

He obviously has some issues that he needs to deal with. Many people have problems they haven't dealt with - it could be the need for attention, an addiction to other women, or a number of things. If he is doing this now - what will stop him when you are married? You should get into couple's counseling asap.

One thing to remember about personals sites, is that they can be extremely entertaining to look through. A lot of the profiles are very funny both intentionally and unintentionally. I'd keep a watch on him for suspicious behavior (unexplained meetings, that kind of thing) but don't worry too much.

Wouldn't the better question be: Why would a woman who found out her fiance joined personals want to continue with him? It's obvious he is not a person you can trust and fidelity would defenitly be and issue. It may be hard but, cut your losses and move on.

Maybe he is looking for someone else. Maybe he is looking for someone to talk to.

Maybe he joined personals a while ago.

It could be a plethora of things. Don't shake the boat until you know for sure what is going on.

Personals are interesting to look through and sometime you have to create a profile just to look at other profiles. Maybe he was just killing time. on the other hand he may be looking for a one nighter with someone before he gets married.

He may love you,but from my experience with men is that some of them cannot control personal desires or impulses. While you may be the one he wants to marry,he may be looking for someone to be his personal "sl&*".Or it may be that he feels unsure and wants to weight his options once more before he takes the plunge.Either way,be concerned and ask him about it.

Loser. Dump the player and up your standard of what you want in a man. Be glad you found this out NOW and not AFTER you were married. Shiver me timbers!

I think you should ask him right away why he is doing this. To me this is a red flag and he is not ready to be married.Don't marry this man until he knows the meaning of commitment.
