Have any of you ever gotten that weird tight feeling in your chest, it feels like an air bubble under your ribs right by your heart, and it hurts worse the deeper you breathe. It comes out of no where, hurts like hell and then disappears. What causes that? Everyone tells me its gas, but I find that hard to believe.

I had a bout of pleurisy that gave me similar symptoms. The symptoms can include:
Fever
Cough
Chills
Shortness of breath
Weight loss
Poor appetite
Sharp chest pain with breathing. Pain can limit the movement on the side of the chest with pleurisy. The pain can also be in the back around where the lungs are.
Rapid shallow breaths
Inability to take a deep breath
Itching in sites on the back (near the site of the lungs, but no visible rashes)

Since the symptoms are similar to a heart attack, I urge you to see a doctor for evaluation. An EKG can rule out the heart attack pretty quickly.

This really does sound like gas but it could actually be a heart attack. When in doubt take no chances and get to the ER immediately. Better safe than sorry. once the heart is damaged it's for good.

Could be pleurisy (sp). It's when the protective membrane in the inner cavity that surrounds your lungs within your rib cage gets inflamed. When it does, it rubs and hurts like hell. It's like a shin-splint in your chest. Causes shortness of breath as well.
Please go see a doctor!!!

It is gas! What I do when that happens is gently rub in a circular motion around that spot. Usually it's underneath my breast. Eventually you'll feel it act weird and you'll belch. Works for me every time. You rub it until it goes away!

It could be a muscle spasm caused by stress or poor posture. If you think you have a problem with your heart, see your doctor ASAP.
