Just do what you otter. Just don't go home skunked. Never ermine what others say, that is just par for the course. Try to ferret out the truth. Say you are teed off about the scoring and don't have the balls to continue.

Keep asking who is in charge of the event a million questions about how to do this and how to do that. Let them know you will need constant instruction.

Volunteer to drive the golf cart. Put a pony keg in the back and get soused. You'll have a blast. :)

Blame it on your wife or your wife's family. If it is a weekend event, you can say you have a graduation party or a christening, there are tons of those going on this time of year.

If not, and you are female, a simple "I'm not feeling well..." would do it. In a sense, that would be the truth, because you don't feel like playing mentally.

will feminine problems work as your excuse? or just go and get drunk and have fun. u know make a fool out of yourself, get in some trouble, make out with a coworker, get fired, etc.
