they say? I know this person who is a liberal and has tried hard to get along with conservative people but the disagrees with them so much, it usually ends up in arguments and personal attacks between that person and who it is that is conservative. What should this person do if they come in contact with that person and cannot be civil?

Sure. It's okay to be friends only with the people you feel comfortable with. Yet I think it's a very interesting experience making friends with people who are very different from yourself. Some of my friends are, and since we respect each other in spite of our differences, we really enjoy ourselves.

If being that way is really such a difficult thing for them to interact well with others not like them AND their unwilling to be civil, or can't control themselves, perhaps they should try to simply avoid those whom they would have such difficulties with!

If its a case where its in a work environment and they have to be around others not like they are.... Majority rules! They need to conform and adjust (at least enough so the job gets done and is done right) or their out!

Having gone through all of this, it is better to laugh about it, and playfully banter than to get serious.
I mean, this is something that is a true to heart moral belief, and it sucks fighting with a potential friend over it. One needs to overlook it, and enjoy life and the circus of politics.

We all have our differences and you can't be 100% compatible with someone else. Best thing to do is steer clear of issues that result in disputes....

I think she should seek out better friends.

Free thinking, fair minded people, and not dogmatic, narrow minded conservatives.
