Yes, we brush our dog's teeth once a week. During her check-up recently, however, the vet said we really should do it daily. If your dog gives you any trouble while brushing, purchase a "finger brush." It slides right over your finger, giving you more control, and calming your dog because a toothbrush isn't jamming at them.

I have never brushed my dog's teeth. My vet comments every time she sees my dog about how great her teeth look. My dog eats no people food, gets plenty of healthy treats that keep her teeth clean naturally, and chews on rope toys.

You can't use regular people tooth paste - it contains things that can be harmful to them - and really makes their mouth foam. I just use the brush with water about once every six months. But my dog's only eat dry food, so that helps keep their teeth clean also.

personally, i don't do it as often as i should. my vet says that even if you brush them just two to three times a week you will really be doing a lot of good. be sure to use pet toothpaste though, as it is supposed to have enzymes in it that last longer so it continues to break down plaque even after the brushing. human toothpaste isn't safe for swallowing either. if your pet isn't one to inhale rawhides, i recommend giving them a few times a week to help keep the teeth clean too.

I try to. We have chicken-flavored toothpaste for dogs and while my beagle isn't too excited about getting his choppers cleaned, he like the taste of the paste.
When I don't brush his teeth, I try to give him greenies to help the breath and cleaning in-between brushings

i do it ever week, the toothpaste that is made for dogs is not ment to be scrubed in to the teeth. you just put it on and it does the work. dont make the dogs teeth bleed, it will get infected so just put some on there and let it do the work

If it is a young dog you can get them used to the process easier. They make dog toothpaste and toothbrushs, you can even start which cheesecloth or a piece of washcloth until they get used to you runnuning your finger along their teeth.
It can save you a fortune is vet tooth cleaning, which any more can run $200 to $300 a pop!

He gets them cleaned when he gets groomed. I don't do myself...his teeth are really good anyway, though.
