IQ scores are all graded on a curve relative to age.. and it is based on expected knowledge at whatever age you are.. it is very possible to have a high IQ as a kid that becomes a normal or average IQ as an adult..
with this in mind.. the national average is about 110 .. so if you are at 131.. the only fair comparison would be with other 13 year olds..
but yes.. 131 is very good.. if you keep learning at the same rate into adulthood .. your IQ should drop very little.. so do your homework.. challenge yourself in school with difficult classes.. learn the material that is presented.. and you can brag to the world that you have kept your 131 IQ .. you are on the right track :)
Good Job and Good Luck ..
Just as a reference the highest recorded IQ is 238 as a child.. but went down to 192 when she was an adult. Look up the name Marilyn vos Savant.. she is the record holder :)

It depends on the test. If it is a test that only measures numeric and verbal intelligence, that is only part of the story.

If it is a test of emotional IQ, or practical IQ, it is a different story.

Find out what the range is on the test before trying to judge whether that is a good score. Also, check the + or - score as well. This will help you decide if this is a valid, reliable test.

Depending on the test, that score is around the 97th percentile, meaning that it is higher than that of about 97% of the population. You need that high an IQ for a good chance of admission to the very top universities.

Being as the average IQ for adults is about 100, yes, your child seems to be quite bright. I hope that you and your child can successfully harness that intelligence to your benefit. You have a special child there!

I think that its above average intelligence - like a B+ or A-. On these intelligence tests, its not always about answering the right or wrong answer but more about the way that you chose to answer the question.

above average , you are so lucky to be that bright. Use it well. Do not get a big head over it and have patience with kids who are not that bright.
