this is no joke. imported slaves, runaways, black seminole indians outnumbered the spanish and indigenous people.
most of mexicos culture has african roots. the famous presidents from their past like vicente guerrero, who they revere today, was part black.
when slaves left the racist states of the south, many went to mexico where they were free and worked the lands. the mexicans and indians and blacks all fought together against the anglo-saxon/european people or the slave owners.
if you don't believe me, google it and learn.
the mexican government and united states covered it up in school.
it was believed all blacks fled and went up north but that was a lie. not all.
so when you see a brown mexican, that deep color is not just spanish and indian but african.
not many mexicans were taught this either.
funny how the racist ways of america have filthered down over the years to mexico.
it should be black/brown pride together.

I lived in Mexico for many years. On the mainland there are many Mexicans who have African American heritage. It is very prevalent in Acapulco. Also remember the Spanish were often fair skinned and blue eyed and you will see many fair Caucasian looking people in Mexico City and Guadalajara due to the French, English and Spaniards. In Baja you do not often see the black influence as it was inhabited by foreigners much later.

It wasn't America that was racist, but rather the time period. And it wasn't really racism as much as it was ignorance. Slavery has been going on for thousands of years, no matter one's color.
