Your system won't mean squat without a well designed box to put your subs in. Some manufacturers have recommendations as to dimensions of various types of boxes. It is best to find someone who builds boxes if you go with something other than a sealed box.

You should always match up RMS (Root Mean Square) watts of Subs and amp per channel as well as impedance's(resistances).

If your amp is rated at 4Ω don't subject it to 2Ω, it will fry.

Here is the formula for subs in parallel:

Z = 1 / (1/sub1 + 1/sub2 + 1/sub3 + ....)

For series, just add them up (sub1 + sub2 + ...).

You can mix and match these equations to get the right impedance required by your amp.

Example: 4 subs @ 4Ω each. If I connect two in parallel and the other two in parallel and tie the two pairs in series, I would have a total impedance(resistance) of 4Ω. So to the amp, it's just one sub.

You should use a capacitor as well.

Recommend for every 500 watts MAX you use a .5 Farad cap
Example: 1000 watts MAX - 1 Farad cap

You will also need what's called a "line level converter" if your stock head unit doesn't have RCA outputs or your amp doesn't have high-level inputs.

Blaupunkt TSw1200 subs with a Sony Xplōd XM2200GTX.
My amp is 1200 watts, subs are 600 watts each, cap is 1.2 Farad

SPL is about 112 db

See i dont act ignorant till i see people like you when i stop at a light or something i turn my radio down but when i look over and someones stareing at me while they are rolling the window up cause they are on the phone which they arent supposed to be doing i turn that mother all the way up so they cant hear a dam thing the other persons saying and anyway its not against the law for me to have a stero thats loud enough to hear in the next lane or from your house as long as its not 50 feet away so dont look at the ones that are tryin to be nice and turn it down when we stop next to everyone

Great subject. Could prob talk all day about this one. The bass thumpin' leanin' to the side layin' in the back seat while ya drive kids are annoying. Maybe I am getting too old, but I just would love to have one day when they don't cruise by shakin' everything off my walls. I think I heard my house cry after the last one drove by.

i have a loud sterio. i love it. but i dont listen to rap. so when you can hear my system you hear more then a bass line. i bought the thing so i could listen to it loud. and its not a crime. sorry if you dont like it, but i do, and its my car. the things i dont do is crank it at 3 am when people are trying to sleep. i have respect for others, and turn it down past about 10 pm.

I agree, most of the time the cars that have them are those stupid *** rice burners. When someone turns it up, i just uncork my headers, and just rev my 69 camaro hard. Then there the ones who can hear the radio.
