Mamy people who have these addictions don"t know God. They have never been saved. They put their trust in man to cure them. They tend to handle things on their own. Man fails, but God, never fails. I put my Faith and Trust in Him.

Maybe because some people need immediate intervention as oppose to sitting around smoking a pipe while they wait for the Lord to answer.

The only thing turning to God will do is probably help them heal spiritually but not mentally or psychically.

A lot of people feel they can't come to God with all their hang ups. What they need to realize is that the come to God just as they are, hang ups and all and HE then gives the grace and the mercy to overcome every snare.

I think it is healthier for people not to use an outside source for dealing with their problems. It becomes too easy to not really take responsibility for yourself. I don't know how many times I've heard people blame Satan for being influenced to do something they shouldn't have. I don't see this as constructive. I think its better to reason out why you made the bad choice in order to learn from it and move on, forgive yourself. People who use outside sources to motivate them to change sometimes never realize the strength came from within themselves. They don't give themselves the credit for being able to change their own lives.
